Repairing instead of throwing away
Whether it’s a broken coffee machine, a leaking bicycle valve or a torn blouse – a repair in a specialist store is often so expensive that it’s cheaper to buy a new one. Things that could perhaps be easily repaired with a few simple steps are thrown away.
The mountains of garbage are getting bigger and bigger.
At our repair and sewing cafés, volunteers help guests to make their small appliances and clothing usable again.
The repair and sewing cafés in Linz, Steyr and Freistadt as well as the Selbstmachtreff in Eferding are the perfect place for people who want to repair something and people who can repair something and want to help and advice with the repair.
People help each other, live sustainability and also make new contacts.
The Selbstmachtreff in Eferding is also a meeting place for various craft groups, whether sewing, knitting, crocheting or handicrafts. The group implements its own projects and helps each other when it gets stuck.
