Dementia lectures

To better understand and support people with dementia.

When someone in the family develops dementia, everyone involved is usually faced with a major challenge. “What can I do?” “How should I behave now?” These are usually the first questions that arise in the family.

In the lectures you will gain an insight into the course of the disease, how an initial psychological assessment and further diagnostics work and what should be taken into account when communicating with people suffering from dementia.

In order to combat energy poverty in Linz, Volkshilfe Oberösterreich, in cooperation with Linz AG and the City of Linz, is dedicated to social climate protection with the project “Energy counselling for households affected by energy poverty”.

Migrants Care

The project “Migrants Care – Steps to the Care and Support Profession”, launched by Volkshilfe Flüchtlings- und MigrantInnenbetreuung (FMB), has won Bank Austria’s Social Prize 2023, which is endowed with 6,000 euros.

And in mid-November, it also won the Upper Austria Integration Award 2023 in the “Language and Work” category.

Sustainability

As Volkshilfe, we have been directly involved with people for 75 years and recognised the need for a re-use business in the sense of a circular economy for people and the environment 30 years ago and put it into practice. Today, we are the second largest collector and seller of used textiles and goods in Upper Austria after the Landesabfallwirtschaftsverband.

Volkshilfe Oberösterreich has already carried out a life cycle assessment in 2021 and thus determined the CO2 emissions of the regional head office and its four subsidiaries.

And together with the scientific community, we are developing measures that contribute to preserving our living space and shaping a fairer and more inclusive society in line with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
